In the heart of Hawaii lies the power to transform young lives forever. The word “Hawaii " itself reminds us of this sacred connection. The word "Hawai'i" can be broken down as Ha (breath), Wai (water), and 'I (God), beautifully symbolizing that our breath, water, and God are the essence of life. For foster youth who have faced unimaginable challenges, the Aloha Life Retreat hosted by 2 Walk on Water offers healing, purpose, and the embrace of Ohana—a family bound not by blood but by shared compassion and love. Foster parents, guardians, and small group home workers are the unsung heroes of our world. They dedicate their lives to creating safe havens for children amidst unimaginable challenges. If anyone deserves the opportunity to experience healing, renewal, and the transformative power of water therapy, it’s these selfless caregivers and the children they tirelessly serve. Water has a unique and profound ability to heal, a truth Wesley and Debora Stewart have championed through their impactful nonprofit endeavors. Starting with Urban Surf for Kids, they harnessed the therapeutic properties of water to aid foster youth, offering them a sanctuary where they could find solace and build resilience. This initiative laid the foundation for their work, highlighting water’s role not just in physical well-being but in emotional and psychological healing. Expanding upon this success, the Stewarts established Every Kid Swims, broadening the scope to reach more children needing water therapy. Their latest project, 2 Walk on Water, which is co-founded with their daughter Kalani Stewart, takes this concept further by including first responders and foster youth experiencing severe mental stress. This initiative underscores the Stewarts’ belief in water’s healing power, especially for those coping with trauma and seeking mental wellness. At the heart of 2 Walk on Water is the understanding that water activities are more than physical exercises; they are a form of mental and emotional therapy. The organization’s programs are designed to alleviate stress, anxiety, and symptoms of PTSD, offering a tranquil and rejuvenating experience. Through their work, Wesley, Debora, and Kalani Stewart have become pioneers in using water therapy to foster healing and resilience, making a lasting impact on the lives of those who have faced life’s toughest challenges.
